{Recording} Notes from the Field: Reflections from a Year of Reading Transformation

June 22, 2024

The “science of reading” is a body of research that explains how children learn to read. It’s not, on its own, a playbook for how to implement research-aligned, equitable instruction across complex, ever-evolving systems. At Lit, we say it takes an ecosystem to support excellent reading instruction. But what does that really mean?

In this webinar recording, Aja Settles, Managing Partner at Lit, facilitated a conversation with three charter school leaders who are on the journey to redesign their reading programs to be research-aligned, grounded in instructional equity, and – ultimately – drivers of student success.  Amanda Cole, Managing Director at KIPP New Orleans Schools; Aleicha Ostler, Founder and Executive Director at Invent Learning Hub; and Eddie Rangel, Executive Director at Adelante Schools shared:

  • What it looks like to transform reading at the system-level
  • Where they’ve focused in the last year and what they’ve learned
  • Practical advice for others in the field
