We help you see, design, and transform every element of your approach to reading, from the instructional materials in teachers’ hands to the data systems that drive improvement over time.
Here’s how we’ve helped 45 systems transform reading instruction at scale:
Your System’s 360° Literacy Assessment
Our team of reading experts can help evaluate how well your school system implements proven reading instruction methods using Lit’s Reading Ecosystem Alignment Diagnostic (READ). Through classroom observations, data analysis, and conversations with your school community, we identify what’s working and opportunities for improvement. This comprehensive assessment empowers you to make informed decisions about where to allocate resources and focus efforts, helping to strengthen reading instruction across your schools and driving better outcomes for all students.
Support to Explore, Test & Select High-Quality Instructional Materials for Your System
Select high-quality instructional materials confidently during a series of workshops with Lit. First, we’ll help you understand how the science of reading should inform the selection of high-quality instructional materials. Then, we’ll work side-by-side as you explore, test, and rapidly decide what to pilot using tools and frameworks that make decision-making clear, evidence-based, and collaborative.
Tailored Reading System Redesign
Lit’s Learn & Design modules empower literacy leadership teams to transform their approach to reading instruction through shared professional learning and hands-on, guided design time. Tailored to your system’s needs, we’ll provide the knowledge, systems, and curated tools you need to (re)design critical structures like curriculum, assessments, and professional learning.
Coaching & Support for System Change
Lit’s side-by-side Implementation Support & Coaching helps your team stay on track with weekly progress monitoring, rapid problem-solving, and targeted support where it is needed most. We help teams implement high-quality curriculum and assessments and build the habits and systems that ensure lasting change.
Our experts provide:
We’ll help you set goals, accelerate progress, and identify effective strategies. You’ll develop your team’s skills in data analysis, coaching, and system-wide change management.
Professional Learning on the Science of Teaching Reading
Kickstart or refresh your team’s understanding of the science of reading and its connection to instructional equity—all without planning a single session. In just two days, Lit will help your team build shared expertise in how children learn to read and how to translate that knowledge into practice with interactive, researched-based professional learning.
Our work is anchored in Lit’s proprietary Reading Ecosystem Alignment Diagnostic (READ), which translates decades of research about reading, reading instruction, and instructional leadership into a set of observable practices and components of a “reading ecosystem.”
The READ reflects Lit’s belief that lasting change requires an integrated and aligned approach across curriculum, assessments, instruction, professional learning, and structures like time and coaching.
With the READ as our anchor, we offer flexible support at every stage of your journey.
Lit is a proud member of Rivet Education’s Professional Learning Provider Guide (PLPG), a vetted list of organizations that provide the best curriculum-based professional learning services in the country.
Inclusion in the PLPG indicates that the provider has passed a three-step evaluation process to assess if the organization provides significant evidence of robust, HQIM-aligned professional learning services.
Adelante Schools worked with Lit to craft an intentional vision of what an equitable literacy ecosystem would like at their school, and create an implementation plan that would ensure long-term sustainability and replicability at the systems level.
Through side-by-side support, thought partnership, knowledge sharing, and coaching, Lit walked Adelante through the process of supporting change from the classroom to the C-suite. By the 2023-2024 school year, 72% of Adelante’s third graders passed the state reading proficiency exam, up from 53% at the start – a schoolwide record.
