Our Team

We are coaches

We are leaders, coaches, and teachers. We have spent years leading systems, working with system-level leaders, and affecting change in schools and classrooms. We know what great schools feel like, what it takes to learn to read, and what’s required to work urgently across an entire school system. We’ve done it before. Our partners and team members view teaching and teaching reading as a call to action.

Lit is a proud member of Rivet Education’s Professional Learning Partner Guide. This certification reflects excellence across dozens of indicators correlated with successful HQIM implementation and underscores our team’s commitment to excellence, research, equity, and data-driven improvement.

Lit is a program of Array Education, a non-profit organization.

Nikki received her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and earned advanced degrees from Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ultimately Nikki is more interested in the classroom than the conference room — and most interested in giving students a chance to shine.

What Sets Us Apart

How We Work

We’re obsessed with reading. At Lit, our entire focus is on building strong reading ecosystems. We know the ins and outs of ELA curriculum and assessments, pore over the latest research, and draw on years of experience leading system-wide literacy initiatives, coaching literacy teams, and teaching reading.

We see the system. Student and teacher success relies on a set of complex, interconnected systems and structures. We work with system leaders to see, design, and transform all the components of a strong reading ecosystem, from curricula and assessments to instructional leadership practices. We believe focusing at the system level creates more sustainable change.

We translate research into practice. Our work is grounded in Lit’s proprietary Reading Ecosystem Alignment Diagnostic (READ), which translates the science of reading into tangible, research-based practices and actions for system leaders. The READ helps us answer, “What needs to happen next so this system achieves instructional excellence and equity?”

We’re grounded in your context. No Lit partnership is the same because no Lit partner is the same. Every partnership begins with a Lit Quality Review, a comprehensive diagnostic of your literacy ecosystem where we get to know your data, systems, team, and kids.

We’re in it for the long haul. Our multi-phased approach is designed to offer support through all phases of change, from identifying system needs to implementing your vision.

We build your muscles. Our literacy experts are coaches in your hallways and partners in your planning. From beginning to end, our job is to build your confidence and skills in leading the work when we’re no longer with you.
